GIVING A BATH.

Most babies love bath-times but , as your baby won't be getting very dirty, she won't need bath more than about once a week. As some babies do feel the cold, it;s best to warm the room and have everything ready before you start. You will need 2 soft towels, a bowl of cooled, boiled water for washing her face, cotton wool, mild baby shampoo, bathtub and a clean nappy and cloths.

Wash your baby's face.

To avoid any risk of infection, it's best to wash your baby's face with separate bawl of warm. previously boiled water. Moisten some cotton wool and gently wipe your baby's eye from the nose outward. Using another fresh piece of cotton wool do the same with the other eye. Use fresh cotton wool to wipe around her mouth, nose, ears, and neck- but don't wipe inside her ears and nose.

Wash your baby's hair.

Wrap your baby a little tighter in the towel, making sure her arms are covered. Hold her legs between your arm and side so you can grip them under your armpit. Support her body along the length of your forearm and her head with your head. Hold her over the bath. Use your free hand to take some water over her hair. Gently apply some baby shampoo. Rinse it off with handfuls of water.

Dry your baby's hair.

Pat- rather then rub- your baby's hair dry using the edge of a soft towel. Don't press the soft fontanelles too hard and avoid covering her face, as she might panic and cry.

Place your baby in the bath.

Unwrap your baby. Place on arm behind her back and grip the her farthest from you. Support her legs and bottom with you other hend and gently lower her into the bath.

Wash your baby's body.

Supporting your baby's head and shoulders with one hand, wash her body with the other. Pay particular attention to the areas under her arms and at the tops of her legs. However, at this young age, she won't need much washing. As she gets older, you'll need to move her around a bit more to clean her more thoroughly.

Lift you baby out.

To remove your baby from the bath, keep one arm around her shoulder and slide the other hand under her bottom. Lift her out of the water in the same position as you put her in.

Dry our baby.

As soon as you've lifted your baby out of the bath, place her on a large soft towel. Fold over one side and then the other but avoid covering her face. Gently pat her dry, paying particular attention to her neck, around her arms, and around her legs, genitals and bottom.

Dress your baby.

Once your baby is dry, put on a clean nappy. Then dress her. while keeping exposed parts of her body covered with the towel.
